We genetically test newborns and those planning to get married for genetically inherited conditions like sickle cell disease. The goal of the screening is to identify conditions that can have a long-term effect on a child’s health or survival. Early detection, diagnosis and intervention can prevent death or disability, and enable a child to grow and develop to their full potential. We screen for metabolic problems, hormone problems, hemoglobin/ blood problems and other rare but serious newborn problems.
We do Sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait screening in couples before marriage to increase awareness and provide comprehensive education on the disease. Sickle cell prevention and care is important as it generally contributes to reduced morbidity and mortality
